I connect my bluetooth headphones to my phone to play music at work since my work computer doesn't have bluetooth. Then I use the desktop app as a "remote" to control playback through the phone. I have done this for months.
Today while listening to the "Brain Food" playlist, spotify started skipping 20 to 30 seconds into each song after the previous song was done. This essentially makes Spotify unusable.
I've never seen this behaviour before. I'm guessing there is a bug having to do with crossfading, which I have disabled. Go to Solution. View solution in original post. Hope you're doing great! No, this is not expected behaviour. It isn't crossfaded. When one song ends it just skips seconds into the next song with zero crossfade. To clear the things up, in this playlist songs get skipped different sections of time into each other and don't start where they're supposed to when your crossfade option is on or off?
I mentioned a bug with crossfade thinking a spotify developer could see that and know where in the algorithm to start looking for a bug. It appears that it "thinks" it needs to crossfade the songs, but then just starts the next song where a 20 to 30 second crossfade which is a huuuge crossfade would end and just the current song remains playing. Could you check this playlist on another device or with another account to see if the same thing happens? Please note that as I already mentioned some of playlists made by Spotify have this type of crossfade by default and it's tweaked by Spotify so there's no option to turn that off and this playlist you're listeting to might be one of them.
I've also noticed this issue, for example with the Spotify playlist "Brain Food" skipping the first seconds of songs. I've used this playlist for the last few years and never noticed this before. It's also very interesting to me that this ONLY happens on some of these playlists. It's like there was an attempt to crossfade it, but as others mention, it just cuts off the beginnings of songs.
It will play a song until it's end and then the next song starts playing by skipping the first 20 seconds in and not from the beginning. I just listened to this playlist yesterday and it was NOT having this issue. Have also encountered the issue when trying it on my Desktop app as well.Announcement: Prepare your devices for remote learning and working. The media player apps on the iPad are the Videos app and the Music app. Well, it didn't for me. I went to the video app. Apparently, the videos didn't download, but charged me anyways. Now, it says it won't let me download with this apple ID for 90 days. In 90 days, I will have found another way to watch this tv show. I'd like a refund. This is messed up.

I was not aware some listening regions where getting 30 second sound bites of unavailable tracks. Mostly when stuff in the U. As I did a quick look up of the release and I naturally thought most of the standard release was available to you in Sweden.
Anyway thanks again for the links. View solution in original post. Does the music playing like this happen with all Spotify apps even using the webplayer here? Can you post what devices, OS, and Spotify app versions this is happening with? I checked those songs from the artist page and they all show the correct song lengths. Hum, this is a weird one.
I have the album page up on the Spotify desktop app that the song All For Love comes from, and the song length reads Can you also post your listening region?
Also you might try first doing a clean reinstall of the Spotify apps on the devices. And also does the song time length show the same as when looking at the song information from the Spotify webplayer too? I have not come across this issue before. The music that is provided on the Spotify service is supposed to be the full length versions of individual single tracks or the full track release version of releases when available to listening regions on the Spotify service, not sound bites.
Only plays 30 sec of the song
Also just to get this out of the way are you a Spotify Premium or ad-free Spotify user? Just getting all needed information as this one probable might need to be escalated to the Spotify mods, after you try with a reinstall the Spotify apps on your devices to see if this clears up?
Can you list what Spotify app versions you currently have on your devices? I have re-installed Spotify several times before, and now recently due to that I have issue with updates of Recently Played Artist as well.
So I've tried that before and now, but I dosen't clear the issue. The song still only plays for seconds, and that it's the time that are displayed for me in Spotify on the specific songs. Added a printscreen from Window-version, for one of the songs again. Checked the webb-version of Spotify as well, and I have same issue there as well.
So there is the same for all the applictions I use no matter what type of plattform I'm using. Thanks for the information, I went ahead and escalated this issue and a Spotify mod should get back to me. I am crossing my fingers it is just a content upload issue, and a report on this issue will result with new content from the label with the correct song lengths for you to listen to. I tried a quick search as soon as I find it the report of it for users to add their information, I will amend my post here for the link to it.
Noticed several songs like this, on two of Lady Antebellums album. Accepted Solutions.Forums The Forum is sponsored by. You are currently viewing the Tips and Deals forum. Newer Topic Older Topic.

I cannot see anything in the settings. If not then I will stop using this service as having a song cut out every time after 30 seconds is actually more annoying than listening to ads.

Anja, but why it keeps saying at the top of the page that You have listened 0 free hours for this month.Hi, I've been a premium member for a while, but for the past few months I've had a problem when streaming songs to my iphone.
I've looked on the help forums but haven't seen anyone else with the same issue. For context, my phone is on ios 9, and the issue has been persistent throughout system and app updates.
It's gotten to the point where, if this isn't solved, I'll be unsubscribing from premium and looking for another music app altogether. After this process, it'll be necessary to resync your tunes for offline listening but it'll be worth it.
Could you let us know your device, operating system, and version of Spotify? Also, are you using a WiFi network or your mobile data when this happens? First of all, thanks for the reply! I was unsure if I would get one at all. I removed the device from the list, uninstalled, restarted, and reinstalled, just as you said, and I'm still having issues.
The app version is 5. I checked, and I was able to play one song on Wifi without issue, then I connected to data and played a different song. When connecting to data, the song stopped again at 13 seconds in. Same issue here.
I'm on an IPad Air. I pay for the premium service which I use in my music classroom, so I really need to get the service I pay for! I will be following this thread for a solution. I've been having the exact same issue for the past year or so. If a song isn't saved as offline, it stops playing after about 10 seconds and won't ever continue, not skipping forward or back or waiting.
I have to skip to the next track for something to play, but even that song might do it too. I'm always running the latest update of Spotify on the latest iOS at the time, currently on the latest iOS public beta.
This issue has persisted across two different iPhones, even after a clean restore and DFU restore. It only happens to songs not saved offline, both on wifi and LTE. The connection speeds are always sufficient at least 10mbps down.
Carrier is T-Mobile. I've tried uninstalling, restoring, restarting, then reinstalling and all combinations above but the issue still persists. I'm hoping someone sees this thread and can help resolve it, but for now, I'm stuck syncing everything offline.
